A contract Subject Matter Expert is required for eLearning Course Development in the Bachelor of Commerce Degree: Management Major program, to develop online course material in the following topic areas:

1. Advanced Leadership Issues
2. Contemporary Organizational Behaviour & Theory
3. Managerial Skill Development
4. Business Consulting
5. Issues in Management
6. Managing Change
7. Strategic Management

Grant MacEwan University, School of Business Corporate Learning/Continuing Education, is looking for a qualified contract Subject Matter Expert to work as a part of an instructional design team, to develop undergraduate degree level courses in their Bachelor of Commerce Management Studies Program.

The Subject Matter Expert will work under the guidance of an instructional designer and in collaboration with the course development team, to complete the following course development process:

1. Course map, outlining how the course will proceed
2. Development of learning modules, activities, multimedia (if relevant) and assessments that are relevant and appropriate for an online, paced, cohort-based course.
3. All development must meet MacEwan University Quality Standards.

Grant MacEwan University uses a collaborative approach to course development that involves regular planning meetings (virtual meetings can be arranged), peer review and course pilot, as part of its quality assurance.

The Subject Matter Expert is expected to adhere to the Master Course Syllabi and make effective use of any prescribed resources identified (textbook, electronic resources, multimedia) and/or other materials and media, as appropriate. Grant MacEwan University respects intellectual property and copyright laws and expects Subject Matter Experts to accurately cite sources and identify material that may require copyright clearance.

Anticipated completion of all project phases will be determined by the development schedule.

Criteria for Selection:
The successful candidate will be selected on his/her ability to meet the following criteria:

*Master's Degree (Ph.D. preferred) from a recognized University in the content area for which you are applying
*Professional work experience in the content area for which you are applying
*Knowledge of eLearning pedagogy and course development processes (preferred)
*Ability to maintain academic integrity and balance quality with business imperatives
*Ability to meet deadlines, as laid out in the project plan
*Experience with BlackBoard or other LMS (preferred)
*Excellent written communication skills
*Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to act effectively and work collaboratively, as a member of a team

  1. I have a hard time doing online classes. The ones that I do well in have teachers who are very hands on and involved with the students. I hope the edmonton colleges get more teachers like that.
