Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa is currently seeking candidates specifically for the following adjunct faculty-teaching position in the hybrid online program.

*Sociology

The following job description addresses the general qualifications to teach in the Online Education program at Waldorf College. Courses are taught using the Blackboard Course Management platform. A terminal degree in your field of expertise is preferred, a masters degree is acceptable with 18 credit hours in field of study.

Report to and be under the supervision of the appropriate College Dean, Department Chair, Lead Faculty or Program Coordinator as assigned by the Assistant Dean for Online Learning. These are Waldorf College Faculty Position, Category 7: Part-time off-campus adjunct faculty who normally carry a maximum load of 120 students and who may not meet all of the qualifications for full-time faculty.

Teaching Responsibilities

1.Teach assigned courses in field of expertise and maintain current knowledge in the discipline.
2.Grade assignments within the time limits set by the Waldorf College.
3.Check the course site on a daily basis during the work week.
4.Be available by phone and/or email during Waldorf College normal operating hours or as otherwise scheduled. Monday-Thursday 8am-5pmCST, Friday 8am-3pm CST.
5.Provide academic assistance and motivation to students throughout the entire period of the course. Encourage students to complete all course assignments and exams within the time allotted for the completion of the course.
6.Communicate plagiarism issues to the Lead Faculty and/or Program Coordinator.
7.Work with Student Success Specialists regarding student and course issues.
8.Consult with Assistant Academic Dean for Online Learning as necessary to resolve student complaints.
9.Remain current in the teaching disciplines through continued involvement in professional development activities. Each year, faculty members must successfully complete at least one professional development activity (workshop, seminar, and/or conference).
10.Coordinate Vacation time and/or emergency leave with the Department Chair at least thirty days in advance or to the extent that you are able. The Lead Faculty or Program Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring a substitute facilitator during the vacation period. You may be called upon to serve as a substitute facilitator for a colleague in your discipline.
11.Be available for cross-training within your discipline.

Program Maintenance

1.Communicate with Lead Faculty and/or Program Coordinators regarding course changes, amendments and updates, as needed.
2.Review summary data provided in student evaluations of courses and provide an annual review of the courses you teach.

In January 2010 Waldorf College came under the ownership of Mayes Education, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Southern University .This relationship has allowed Waldorf to reach new students through distance education programs as well as strengthen its residential programs.
