Subject Matter Expert -Undergraduate Programs in Healthcare Informatics
*Independent Contractor (Part-time, Temporary Position)

POSITION SUMMARY

Established in 1899, South University is a private academic institution dedicated to providing educational opportunities for the intellectual, social and professional development of a diverse student population. South University offers personalized student attention and high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs in arts and sciences, business, health professions, nursing, and pharmacy across its campuses and online.

The Subject Matter Expert is responsible for creating program documentation for South University's undergraduate programs in Healthcare Informatics. The Subject Matter Expert works closely with a team of South University Academic Affairs personnel (including the relevant College Dean) and other education experts to refine the program components to meet the needs of South University's student population within time, resource, and budget requirements.

As an expert in a wide range of Healthcare Informatics educational and professional domains, the Subject Matter Expert develops written deliverables including the catalog program description, program outcomes, course descriptions, and competitive program analysis. In addition, the Subject Matter Expert reviews content developed by the team to ensure that prescribed quality and operational objectives are obtained.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

*Graduate or terminal degree (e.g., M.S. or Ph.D.) with a primary emphasis in Healthcare Informatics or an appropriate and closely related field required
*Knowledge of and experience with current education trends, program design, and course design in Healthcare Informatics required
*At least two years current teaching experience in undergraduate Healthcare Informatics courses required (on-ground and online)
*Professional work experience in Healthcare Informatics preferred
*Knowledge of online pedagogy and instructional design preferred
*Position is virtually based and must reside within the United States
*Ability to balance academic quality and integrity with business imperatives
*Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the drive to meet any and all deadlines in the program development project plan
*Technologically independent (including access to broadband Internet)
*Excellent oral and written communication skills
*Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to act effectively and work collaboratively as a member of a virtual team

Grand Canyon University invites applications for open online adjunct faculty positions within the College of Health Science. We are looking for individuals who have an enthusiasm to share their knowledge with undergraduate students at our University.
Immediate needs for Adjuncts in Healthcare Informatics (Information Technology, Information Systems, and/or Data Management in Healthcare).
The Adjunct for the College of Health Sciences (online classes) will provide instruction that incorporates current teaching methodologies, technologies, and other trends that reflect advances in specific areas of the discipline associated with the individual's teaching assignment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
* Teaches one or more subjects within prescribed curriculum.
* Compiles bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
* Stimulates class discussions.
* Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, or assigns this work to others.
* Remains current with new trends and development in his/her field of expertise.
* Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* Masters degree in the field of business or Healthcare Administration. Doctoral degree preferred.
* Minimum of 2-5 years work experience in healthcare AND informatics.
* Minimum of 2-5 years in teaching and/or training experience.
* Additional requirements depending on the subject matter taught in the class.
